“However, to use it smoothly required a Google subscription, and I really didn't have spare money in my wallet to subscribe, so I could only consider finding some self-hosted alternatives.”

Open-Source Slack AI

Slack AI's thread summaries come bundled with the $18-a-seat plan; this one comes bundled with a git clone.

FreeComputerUse

Frontier computer-use agents bill by the click. FreeComputerUse lets a cheap model plan and Playwright do the clicking, so the invoice stays small.

“The problem was simple: the cost didn’t make sense for the repetitive browser work I wanted to delegate.”
