“Notion is wonderful, but if you mostly use it as a personal notebook, you end up paying a monthly subscription to read your own notes, on someone else's server, behind a login.”

Notion Plus is $10 a month to reread your own notes. OwnNote imports the whole workspace onto your computer and turns the meter off.
Superhuman charges $30 a month to make Gmail fast. Attn does it from your own laptop for nothing.
“I wanted Superhuman-like private Gmail client without the subscription, so I built one.”
SideNotes wants $19.99 for a notes panel that slides in from the edge of your screen. EdgeMark slides in from the same edge, keeps your notes as plain Markdown files, and costs the edge.
“But it's closed-source and paid, with no way to contribute, customize, or verify what it does with your data.”
SketchUp Pro bills $33.25 a month to push a rectangle into a box. KetchUp pushes, pulls and even opens your .skp files for nothing.
“Just like Sketchup, but without subscription”
